As well as shared use (free of charge) of the owners’ 3 green, 9 tee golf course, which lies beside the cottage’s own garden, visitors to River Cottage also enjoy complementary passes to Athelhampton House and Gardens (open to the public) and access to the licensed restaurant for lunches and cream teas during opening hours (Sunday-Thursday in summer, Sundays only in the winter). A village shop and pub serving food are just 1 mile away and the county town of Dorchester (5 miles) offers good shopping and a host of amenities, including cycle hire for exploring the area’s glorious countryside and delightful villages. Within easy reach are famous Cerne Abbas Giant cut into the chalk of the hillside, the Abbotsbury Swannery and the famous resorts of Weymouth, Bournemouth and Poole, Salisbury with its famous cathedral and spire, and rural West Dorset Hardy Country. Steep second staircase to first floor: Double bedroom with four poster bed, TV and ensuite bathroom/WC (shower over bath).

Reviews
The cottage was cosy and comfortable and furnishings were inkeeping and was enjoyed by all three generations of our party. The golf was great fun and the course was better than we expected. Having the manor house on the doorstep was a bonus and the gardens in particular were beautiful. Lots of interesting places to visit nearby and everyone was very welcoming. We hopefully will be returning to this property next year. Many thanks.

Ideal for me as i'm disabled. Downstairs bedroom bathroom etc. Made to feel very welcome in the house. Lift in main house to see film "from time to time" filmed in Athelhampton. Helpful staff. Welcoming pack appreciated. Lovely family home, met them all including Tolly the spaniel! Brought home some home grown plants. Will definitely recommend to friends & family. First class. have used other companies. This is the best !
